According to the knowledgeable Google, being bold means:

2.
(of a colour, design, or shape) having a strong, vivid, or clear appearance.
“a coat with bold polka dots”
| synonyms: | striking, vivid, bright, strong, eye-catching, conspicuous, distinct, pronounced, prominent, obvious, outstanding, well marked, showy, flashy, gaudy, lurid, garish
“a bold pattern of yellow and black” |
Let’s start with this statement: Bold does not need to be loud.
When taking decisions about interiors a good percentage of people go for safer options for many reasons:
Uncertainty of how the outcome would be; the saleability of the property if they decide to sell (in 5, 10 or 20 years which for me is the most extraordinary excuse for not having a happy home as if selling it “well in the distant future” would give you back the lost years); timid approach on design and personal taste.
Which one is the most common situation?
I have my thoughts on that but the important point is: What is yours?
One of the meanings I find very valuable about the definition above mentioned is “the willingness to take risks”
Yes, the willingness and I would add: the desire to overcome your fears, whatever they are.
Being bold does not mean you need to paint the walls of your home in yellow or bright red.
It is about allowing your home to express itself as an extension of you, it is those elements that are part of you and that make your heart beat faster, your eye resting on contemplation or your soul searching for that something else.
Every one of us reacts in different ways to different stimulus.
I believe our home should provide that level of surprise, love, spirit and character.
Be it colours, art, furniture, wallpaper, accessories, rugs or all of them together your home should be like you; unique and special.
From 1 to 10 how bold are you? (Please remember we are not talking about loudness)
