An interior project is not just about beauty, finishes, materials, circulation, concepts, etc. The most fascinating aspect is the understanding of expectations and how they can become memorable experiences thanks to design.
At the end of the day it is about how a home is perceived and enjoyed depending on the satisfaction of individual needs: aesthetic, functional and cultural ones.
This is why is so important for me to understand successful men like you, what are the elements that drive and inspire you.
After three years of experience in London I have found that these are the five words my male clientele use frequently for describing the home they want.
Have a look at them. Explore their meaning.
Giving yourself the right amount of time to think about their implications will certainly help you to define where you want to go in reference to how your new home has to look and most importantly feel not just for your guests but for you.
Would you say they are the most important ones? Or are they too general? Are they part of how you define your life style or more how you would like your life style to be?
If you identify with any one, think why and you will be able to focus more on finding what is unique in that understanding that can be used to express your individuality.
Those words are:
Outstanding
The best way to explain this request is that it applies to the look of many of the boutique hotel rooms: spaces that convey personality and character where the design of it can be attributed to a creative mind and which exudes attractively a confident savoir faire.
Contemporary
This and masculine are two of the most recurrent aesthetics to be desired. Being contemporary is not necessarily just about using pieces that reflect the current tastes or fashions it can be about understanding what is going on and even challenging those trends, recreating and/or mixing styles, discovering new ways of solving design problem, etc.
Of course with the word contemporary technology comes attached and for a XXI century successful man it can be expressed in the use of exciting materials, finishes, shapes. Being contemporary can trigger your adrenaline in many ways and that is why I think it is so appealing.
Cosy
Home is home and part of the things we expect when at home is feeling comfortable, at ease. The point is that cosiness does not refer necessarily to visual cosiness but to tactile cosiness: that armchair that embraces you when reading your favourite book or that sofa that pampers your body when having a nap.
Masculine
I would say this request comes top of the list. Masculinity can be expressed in many ways: linear compositions, dark colours, bulky furniture, austere interiors, etc.
How all the pieces work together in order to deliver that desired feels? Well that is when vision and taste will be tested.
Entertainment
The enjoyment of life is a priority and when thinking of your home this is usually translated into how you entertain your guests and of course yourself when alone. There are two words for that: audio and video.
Audio and Video are a vital part of the creation of your home, the pleasure they give and the energy of celebration, calmness and relaxation they can provide will impact your life for good in a very dramatic way.
So what do you think? What else would be in that list of yours? It is your home so be generous and creative. Having a vision will make it possible to have your dream home.
