Those who love design will always be surprised, amazed and tempted by the evolution and creation of forms in any discipline be it: decorative arts, art or furniture.

Probably design is one of the highest expressions of human freedom when let to flourish; this implies that the same freedom for creating pieces should be present when choosing them as part of our domestic environment; however if all of them are chosen from contemporary makers the history they tell may not have that deep emotional connection or the historic weight that will allow us to be carried out to other dimensions in time and space producing a richer experience in the enjoyment of our homes plus expanding our mind, knowledge and understanding of other times and cultures.

Particularly I like especially modern and contemporary design, I like the interiors to reflect somehow the spirit of the time we are living in, this can be achieved in many ways from the colour palette to the use of accessories including everything in between.

In choosing these styles, in particular, the contemporary (as too close to us) we take the risk of creating a very homogenous feel which is not bad by itself, however, the understanding of it and its implications may be lost within its too even look and appeal.

This is why for appreciating it in its real dimension and reach is so important to offer a contrast in the scheme and the best way of doing this is including pieces of other periods: antiques.

Antiques within contemporary interiors will create different situations

_Will help to appreciate even more the contemporary pieces just by visual contrast and vice versa.

_They will tell a lot about you and your interests.  Having a unique piece at home will require a bit of information about it and its origins so you can share that information with friends and family. Just this fact will expand your mind and help you to discover new things.

_They will add warmth to your home.

_The flow of the interiors will be richer as you are creating a sequence that will be interrupted by their presence demanding an inspired brake before continuing to appreciate the rest of the room. These “temporary” stops will make your home much more enjoyable.

_Choosing the right pieces in shape, style, dimension and location is not an easy task but if you are obsessive about extreme beauty this can be certainly the way for achieving it.

_And finally by definition you will make your home more interesting.

The creation of a well-balanced eclecticism is for me a wonderful skill to have, one that can deliver a sophisticated outcome, full of flair, uniqueness, openness and beauty.

That is why I think antiques should be present in any modern/contemporary home.
